“The gift of kings”: that is the project this house set itself when it was born in 1983 in the Sultanate of Oman, willed into being by the Albusaidi family. The country was once one of the great trading posts for frankincense and myrrh, and the house draws on it. It describes itself as a meeting of East and West: the breadth of Arabian materials, the construction of the French school. Rare in niche perfumery, no perfumer’s name is put forward — the house says only that they work in Paris, Grasse, Geneva and New York. Sayyid Khalid has presided since 2003, succeeding his brother Sayyid Badr.
